When it comes to telehealth, interoperability has various layers. To better understand the critical role interoperability plays in telemedicine, we spoke with Tom Foley, the Vice President of Growth at AMD Global Telemedicine. What does interoperability mean for telemedicine? How can various locations become settings of care?
A recent study of EHR interoperability found that 68% of data was "understood" when exchanged across different sites using the same vendor , but only 22% was "understood" when exchanged across different EHR vendors. by Vince Kuraitis, JD and Ian McNicoll, MD.
Among the top obstacles are lack of access to data-sharing systems coupled with lack of interoperability between health IT investments, preference for paper and phone, and data privacy and security concerns. The second chart details the key barriers preventing clinicians from sharing data with patients.
As expected, HHS together with CMS and ONC have released the 21st Century Cures Act Final rule that most people have been calling the Information Blocking rule and/or the Interoperability Final rule. You can find the blog post announcing the final rule here and the Cures Act final rule landing page here. You can download […].
This blog explores how these advancements improve patient outcomes, streamline care delivery, and enhance provider collaboration. We also address challenges such as privacy, interoperability, and maintaining the human touch in healthcare.
One of the SMA objectives is to consider the Conference in advance and offer thoughts about what we’ll expect, which I did here in the HIMSS blog space. The cloud and FHIR standards are fostering a new era of interoperability in health care.

Introducing GlobalMed’s New Interoperability Tools. But this kind of integration isn’t complete and it definitely doesn’t enable interoperability. And when it comes to running a robust and clinically responsible telemedicine program , interoperability is vital. We’ll explain more about that in upcoming blog posts.
This blog explores the role of technology in RPM, including wearable devices, mobile apps, and connected medical tools that collect and share real-time data. We also cover challenges like data security, interoperability, and adoption, as well as the future of RPM with advances in AI, IoT, and telehealth.
For many, the most obvious solution has been to rely on a third-party vendor to provide telehealth services and then work to make that service interoperable with existing electronic health records (EHR). Research has shown that telemedicine interoperability often results in a fragmented, redundant, and costly mess. View our Solutions.
I blogged half as many articles as last year, and yet my readership only dropped by 16%. I wish I had more than 28 blog articles this year to give you. I am amazed at all you loyal readers. There is much talk on the blogs about the USA government trepidation around Health Information Exchange interoperability. Elimination of HIE-related fees is just one piece of the puzzle for interoperability. WISHIN's vendor-agnostic, one-to-many architecture advances true interoperability.
OVERVIEW: This webinar examines specific ways that EHR interoperability and electronic health records systems integration can deliver a range of benefits to remote patient monitoring (RPM) for driving improved care coordination.
I concluded the first of this three-part series with Dr. Don Rucker’s belief that, “Patients are the massive use-case for interoperability.”. You can read the entire post and learnings in Take 2 of my 3-part series here in the Medecision blog. And designing information to make it beautiful, useable, meaningful.
But this kind of integration isn’t complete and it definitely doesn’t enable interoperability. And when it comes to running a robust and clinically responsible telemedicine program , interoperability is vital. Essentially, we’re enabling interoperability in telemedicine so you can deliver full-service virtual care. Contact Us.
As a healthcare innovator, Intermountain has worked diligently to put in place both patient-facing and back-end integrations needed for successful enterprise-wide telehealth interoperability. The topic is about a vision of how things could/should be at the point of care because of successful interoperability. Historically discussions in Health IT have been around very basic interoperability fundamentals. These existing Health IT Interoperability are supported by basic security and privacy models.
Over the next several weeks I will release a series of blogs highlighting the way Redox is helping our customers overcome these gaps to uncover the possible. The post Finding the future of interoperability with Redox: Part 1 – Bulk FHIR appeared first on Redox. In healthcare, there’s no shortage of such gaps. What is bulk FHIR?
In part one of our interview with Intermountain Healthcare, we discussed the health system’s approach to telehealth interoperability from the perspective of the patient. To learn more about Intermountain telehealth interoperability journey, watch this webinar recording.
