Interoperability is an overlapping set of technical and policy challenges, from data access to common data models to information exchange to workflow integration – and these challenges often pose a barrier to healthcare innovation. Microsoft has been engaged for many years on developing best practices for interoperability across industries.
Who best to reach out to than those who understand and are interested in what I do through following my blog. My philosophy is that Interoperability Standards are not a destination, they are a catalyst that enables something far greater to happen. Interoperability standards allow for the best re-use of technical implementations.
From an Interoperability perspective one is using the TLS to Mutually Authenticate. This is the concern that is addressed through Interoperability Profiling. This is all that Profiling can address, in that the Interoperability layer defines how the two sides authenticate each other. See other articles for other topics.

We are witnessing earlier adoptions of new web-based technologies, increased interoperability, incentivized adoption models and many other innovations coming to bear. Quite a bit of this is inspired by ONC’s MeaningfulUse, telehealth reimbursement models, and new CMS programs mandating effective change.
